LEWIS MORTON ARRESTED IN SWINDON FOR CHILD EXPLOITATION AND DRUGS

A man identified as Lewis Morton has been formally charged with serious criminal offenses, including child exploitation and the supply of Class A drugs, according to police authorities. Morton, whose residence is listed as Fairford Crescent in Swindon, appeared before the Swindon Magistrates' Court following an extensive and complex investigation conducted by Wiltshire Police. The investigation, described by authorities as thorough and multifaceted, focused on criminal activities impacting the local community.

Authorities revealed that the 23-year-old suspect faces multiple charges. Among these, he is accused of requiring a person to perform forced or compulsory labor, a serious offense that highlights the exploitation of vulnerable individuals. The police investigation also uncovered allegations related to child exploitation, which involves grooming and manipulating minors for various illicit purposes.

In addition to these charges, Lewis Morton is accused of possessing an air weapon illegally, with the police stating that he is prohibited from owning such a weapon for life. Furthermore, he faces four counts of possessing weapons, including dangerous items such as push daggers and a zombie knife, which are often associated with violent crime and gang activity.

Detective Constable Will Saunders provided insight into the investigation, emphasizing the signs police look for when identifying exploitation. He pointed out that unexplained money, gifts, and the possession of multiple mobile phones are common indicators of criminal involvement. Detective Saunders explained that child exploitation encompasses grooming and enslavement of minors, often for financial gain through drug trafficking, sexual exploitation, or other illicit activities.

He further elaborated on the tactics used by criminal gangs, particularly county line gangs, which recruit and groom young individuals to transport and deliver drugs across different areas. These gangs often exploit vulnerable youths, turning them into couriers for illegal substances and other contraband, thereby perpetuating a cycle of exploitation and violence within communities like Swindon.
