WINSFORD GRANDSON JAILED FOR BRUTAL ATTACK ON ELDERLY GRANDPARENTS
Lewis Courtney was given a prison term following his violent assault on his grandparents in Winsford.During his stay at their residence in May, Courtney initially arrived and quickly exhibited aggressive and verbally abusive behavior.
The violence escalated when he assaulted his 63-year-old grandmother, causing visible bruising and swelling by striking her face and hips.
The following day, after the grandparents returned from shopping, Courtney attacked again, becoming enraged and pulling his grandmother by the back of her top from the bathroom to the bedroom.
He then turned on his 74-year-old grandfather, hitting him in the face and ribs.
Both victims sustained wounds serious enough to necessitate hospital care.
Cheshire Police were alerted on May 30, leading to Courtney’s immediate arrest.
At Chester Crown Court on November 18, he admitted to charges of causing grievous bodily harm without intent and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Judge Steven Everett sentenced him to nearly four years in prison.
Detective Sergeant James Elliott commented that Courtney exploited his elderly and vulnerable grandparents, who were already dealing with health challenges, and that they endured a frightening ordeal.
The police expressed satisfaction with the sentence, hoping it provides some resolution for the victims and their family.
The case received extensive media coverage and falls under crime and judiciary headings.
