DERBYSHIRE MAN LEWIS BARLOW JAILED FOR STARVING DOG TO DEATH
Lewis Barlow, born 8 February 1993, who was previously residing in Ilkeston and more recently at 3 Primrose Way, Sutton-in-Ashfield NG17 1HX, was convicted in 2025 of allowing a pug to starve to death along with other dogs.
Barlow admitted failing to prevent unnecessary suffering to the unnamed dog, specifically by ‘death through starvation’.
The charge relates to a period between November 1, 2023, and December 6, 2023.
Although detailed information is limited, reports suggest Barlow bred dogs on land in the Matlock area.
The dogs were kept locked up in a caravan and were allegedly abandoned, with their discovery made by a relative of Barlow.
By that time, one dog had already died from starvation, and others were hours away from death.
Police intervened and removed the surviving dogs.
Barlow was sentenced to 16 weeks of immediate custody, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154, and banned from keeping animals for 15 years, expiring in August 2040.
Additional allegations suggest Barlow has a criminal history, including domestic violence, house destruction in front of his children, and burglaries within his family’s homes.
He has also been recently charged with car theft.
