Leslie Ramotar

Wensleydale Sexual Abuser

September 2018 Bransholme pervert molested a teenage girl – now he has been freed from prison early A Hull pensioner whose past returned to haunt him when he was convicted of a 30-year-old sex crime has been freed from prison on appeal. Leslie Lennox Ramotar, 67, was locked up for nine months at Isleworth Crown Court in July after he was convicted of indecent assault. His crime dated back to the late 1970’s when he molested a teenage girl. Mr Justice Dove told London’s Appeal Court today that Ramotar never put a foot wrong in later years, and the judge described his crime as an “isolated offence”. Ramotar, of Wensleydale, near Bransholme, had also been plagued by diabetes and other health problems. The judge accepted that there were “aggravating factors, such as the significant age difference.” He said: “There were several other factors strongly supportive of a suspended sentence.” “This was an isolated offence which occurred many years prior to sentence. “The judge imposed a sentence which was in all the circumstances manifestly excessive.” Mr Justice Dove, sitting with two other judges, substituted a nine-month sentence, suspended for two years. “He requires this sentence to be hanging over him to achieve the necessary punishment,” said the judge.
