OXFORDSHIRE PENSIONER JAILED FOR 11 YEARS FOR SEX OFFENCES
An elderly man from Abingdon has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for multiple child sex offences.Leslie Clibbon, aged 76, was found guilty in June of four counts of gross indecency with a child, six counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14, and two counts of rape.
The crimes took place during the late 1980s and early 1990s.
During the court hearing, the prosecution's Edward Lucas described the profound impact on the victim, with her expressing feelings of blame and confusion.
Clibbon was convicted after a trial and was sentenced by Mr.
Recorder John Ryder KC.
The judge described how Clibbon exploited the victim's innocence and showed no remorse.
Clibbon's offences included making the victim perform sexual acts, teaching her how to do so, and attempting to have sexual intercourse with her.
The court heard that the victim was abused almost daily from the age of 13 and was advised not to tell her mother.
Clibbon will be on the sex offenders register and must notify police of his personal details but will not be subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
