LESLEY BOOKER GROOMED CHILDREN IN WORKSOP AND NOTTINGHAMSHIRE, SENTENCED TO LIFE
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community, Lesley Booker, a 55-year-old man from Netherton Road in Worksop, was sentenced to life imprisonment for heinous crimes committed against young children. The proceedings took place at Nottingham Crown Court, where it was revealed that Booker had engaged in a calculated pattern of grooming and sexual abuse involving vulnerable minors.According to court records, Booker’s criminal behavior was notably premeditated and manipulative. It was disclosed that he had established a relationship with the grandfather of his young victims while he was incarcerated for an earlier sexual offense. This connection proved to be a critical factor in his ability to gain the trust of the family and access the children.
During his time in prison, Booker managed to forge a relationship with the children’s grandfather, which facilitated his subsequent interactions with the young victims. Once he was released or allowed to stay with the family, Booker exploited this trust to groom the children, some as young as four years old, and others up to ten. His grooming tactics included helping with household chores such as gardening and babysitting, which he used as opportunities to manipulate and sexually abuse the children.
The court heard that Booker systematically targeted these minors, grooming them for his own sexual gratification. The victims, two boys and one girl, were subjected to a series of assaults that left lasting scars. The judge, Joan Butler, described Booker’s actions as deeply disturbing and emphasized that he posed a significant ongoing threat to children.
In her sentencing remarks, Judge Butler stated that Booker’s crimes were particularly heinous and that he had shown no remorse. She ordered that he serve a minimum of ten years before being eligible for parole, underscoring the severity of his offenses and the danger he continues to pose to society. The case has highlighted the importance of vigilance and safeguarding measures to protect children from predators like Booker, whose manipulative tactics can often go unnoticed until it is too late.
