LOVELY LEROY ALLEN FROM CROOK CAUGHT IN SHOCKING UNDERAGE GIRL PREDATION AT NIGHTCLUB IN DURHAM
In December 2016, a disturbing case emerged involving Leroy Wesley Allen, a resident of Rutherford Court in Crook, who engaged in a sinister scheme targeting underage girls through social media. The court heard that Allen, posing as a nightclub boss, attempted to lure young girls into applying for hostess positions at an unnamed nightclub, exploiting their innocence and vulnerability.According to evidence presented at Durham Crown Court, Allen was aware of the girls’ ages—three of whom were just 15 years old and one only 14. Despite this knowledge, he proceeded to provide them with a mobile contact number, instructing them to reach out to his female “assistant.” In reality, Allen was the one communicating with the girls through this contact, disguising his identity behind the guise of an assistant.
Using this false persona, Allen sent the girls images depicting what they would be expected to wear if they took up the job. He then requested that they send photographs of themselves in underwear or bikinis, with one girl being asked for a full-body shot. The court was told that Allen promised the girls they could earn between £100 and £200 per night working at the club. Furthermore, he allegedly told one girl that if she became “one of Leroy’s favourites,” she might have the opportunity to sleep with him, revealing a disturbing level of predatory intent.
Prosecutor Paul Abrahams described the messages as “clearly sexually motivated,” emphasizing that all but one of the girls chose not to respond to Allen’s advances. The court also heard that Allen attempted to arrange for one of the girls to visit his home for sexual purposes, further illustrating his predatory behavior.
At the time of his arrest, Allen was 20 years old. He pleaded guilty to four counts of attempting to incite an underage child to engage in sexual activity and one count of attempting to facilitate a child sex act. Although a psychiatric report indicated that Allen was not believed to have any “underlying sexual attraction” to children, a probation assessment highlighted a “high risk” of similar offending in the future.
During the sentencing, Kathryn Johnson, representing Allen, argued that he was of previously good character and could work with the Probation Service to address his behavior. However, Judge Christopher Prince sentenced Allen to one year in a young offenders’ institution. The judge emphasized that Allen had deliberately targeted impressionable underage girls with malicious intent.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Allen was ordered to be subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must register as a sex offender for the next ten years, underscoring the severity of his actions and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
