LEO NG FROM CAMBRIDGE CAUGHT WITH OVER 21,000 CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN SHOCKING OFFENSE

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Cambridge, law student Leo Ng was found to possess an extensive collection of child abuse images, numbering over 21,000, which he had downloaded obsessively to satisfy his disturbing sexual fantasies.

On October 22 of the previous year, police executed a search warrant at Ng’s family residence in Cambridge.

During the raid, authorities uncovered a vast and repulsive trove of images stored on a computer hard drive.

The collection included photographs and videos depicting children being subjected to abuse, with a significant portion classified as the most severe category of exploitation.

Specifically, more than 60 of the images found were categorized as level five, indicating extreme abuse involving sadism and even bestiality.

The sheer depravity of these images underscored the seriousness of the offense.

Later that month, Ng was arrested in Canterbury, where he was attending university.

During his arrest, officers discovered a laptop in his possession containing hundreds more images of child abuse, further evidencing the extent of his disturbing collection.

Ng, who resides on Spalding Way in the Queen Edith’s area of Cambridge, was charged and subsequently appeared in court.

He admitted to two counts of making indecent images of children.

The court heard that his collection comprised a staggering 21,622 images and videos, with the distribution across various severity levels: 20,409 at level one, the least serious, 72 at level two, 418 at level three, 659 at level four, and 64 at level five, the most serious.

Prosecutor Michael Procter detailed the disturbing nature of the images, noting that Ng’s interests appeared to focus predominantly on pre-pubescent females of white and Asian descent.

This specific focus added to the gravity of the case, highlighting the disturbing preferences that fueled his collection.

In his defense, lawyer Michael Forward explained that Ng led an isolated life in Cambridge and exhibited features consistent with Asperger’s Syndrome.

He suggested that Ng’s collection of images was driven by an “instinct” to gather and hoard, and that he struggled with understanding where to draw the line.

Forward emphasized that Ng’s mental health condition might have contributed to his behavior, providing context rather than excusing it.

Judge Jonathan Haworth acknowledged that there was no evidence Ng had distributed the images or attempted to contact children directly.

However, he emphasized that the case was aggravated by the sheer volume of illicit material involved.

The judge also noted that sending Ng to prison would not be beneficial, as he would not receive the necessary treatment behind bars.

Addressing Ng directly, Judge Haworth stated, “You are a man of previous good character who became obsessed with downloading these images to feed your sexual fantasies.

I believe that engaging with a treatment program is far more likely to prevent a recurrence than a few months in prison.” As part of his sentence, Ng received a one-year prison term, suspended for two years, with conditions including supervision and mandatory participation in an internet sex offenders program.

Additionally, he was subjected to restrictions on internet use and will be required to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, reflecting the serious nature of his crimes and the ongoing risk they pose.
