LEE WILLIAMS AND SHOCKING SEX OFFENSES IN CARDIFF
A devastating case of repeated sexual abuse has come to light involving Lee Williams, a 32-year-old man from Cardiff, who systematically exploited and assaulted five teenage girls over a period of time. The crimes committed by Williams included grooming, sexual assault, physical abuse, and manipulation, all of which left his victims deeply traumatized and suicidal.
The court was informed that Williams targeted vulnerable young girls, often underage, by grooming them with small gifts such as jewellery, cuddly toys, and food.
To deceive them, he lied about his age, creating a false sense of intimacy and trust.
Once he established a relationship with each girl, he subjected them to horrifying acts of sexual violence, often leaving them physically injured and emotionally shattered.
The gravity of his actions was emphasized during the hearing at Cardiff Crown Court, where prosecutor Roger Griffiths described Williams's conduct as driven solely by a desire to indulge in sexual activity with children under the age of consent, exploiting their immaturity and sometimes their vulnerability.
The first victim, who met Williams through his job as a bus driver, was just 15 at the onset of the abuse.
Williams expressed a preference for younger girls and raped her multiple times.
Her ordeal left her physically and emotionally ill; she described how she was physically sick after the attacks.
In her victim personal statement, she shared her ongoing struggles with bullying at school and depression, both of which Williams took advantage of.
She recounted how he raped her, supplied her with drugs, and manipulated her into feeling responsible for the abuse.
Her statement revealed that Williams was also a “feeder,” constantly giving her takeaway meals, which caused her to gain four stone in just eight months, leading her to contemplate ending her life.
The second victim, who was over the age of consent when assaulted, was introduced to Williams through the first girl.
He showered her with gifts initially, but the relationship quickly turned sinister.
He raped her multiple times and subjected her to strangulation during these assaults, even losing consciousness at one point while raping her.
She was also raped while asleep and suffered injuries from these attacks.
Disturbingly, Williams placed her on a dating website without her consent and attempted to coerce her into a threesome.
In her victim statement, she described how Williams would drive her to remote locations and assault her with a toy BB gun.
She felt exploited and isolated, with Williams transferring money from her bank account to himself.
Her story highlighted how he gradually controlled her, leading her to feel that her only escape was through self-harm.
She recalled the terrifying moment when he strangled her, fearing he would kill her.
The third girl first encountered Williams at age 14 and had consensual sex after her 15th birthday.
However, the relationship devolved into assault and rape, with Williams later turning his attention to a fourth victim.
Witnesses told the court that he abused these last two victims in a van, instructing the third girl to delete photos and lie about their relationship.
She now suffers from flashbacks and nightmares due to her traumatic experiences.
The fourth victim was instructed by Williams to remain silent about her abuse under threat of getting into trouble.
She later confided in police that she disliked her own body, feeling violated by his touches, and expressed her discomfort around men.
This victim’s testimony underscored the deep emotional scars left by Williams’s relentless manipulation and abuse.
The fifth girl, just 13 years old when the misconduct began, was contacted via Snapchat by Williams, who falsely claimed to be 18.
He took her to McDonald’s and pressured her into having sex.
Their encounters continued with Williams sexually assaulting her multiple times, despite her protests and telling him to stop.
He also offered her drugs—amphetamines and cannabis—and repeatedly raped her, even after she told him to get off.
Williams also told her to wear her school uniform and expressed an explicit desire to have sex with an 11-year-old.
His abuse was physically violent, including punching her in the stomach, and he sent her disturbing messages, such as “I just raped you.” The victim expressed her confusion and despair, wondering why he targeted her and what motivated his actions.
Williams’s appalling conduct was eventually brought to justice when he was arrested.
He pleaded guilty to multiple serious charges, including 12 counts of rape, 14 counts of sexual activity with a child, and two counts of assault by penetration.
His criminal record was further complicated by prior convictions for benefit fraud and possession of class B drugs.
During sentencing, the court learned that Williams acknowledged his wrongful behavior and expressed willingness to engage in rehabilitative efforts.
His defense counsel, Christopher Rees, highlighted his early guilty plea as a mitigating factor.
However, the judge, Recorder of Cardiff Judge Tracey Lloyd, was unequivocal in condemning his actions, emphasizing the profound trauma inflicted on his victims.
The judge stated, “Your behavior has caused significant trauma to them all, some of your victims have felt guilty but they have nothing to be guilty about.
The guilt and the responsibility all lie with you.” Ultimately, Williams was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum term of over nine years and four months before eligible for parole.
In addition to his custodial sentence, he was ordered to comply with sex offender notification requirements, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, along with a restraining order, was imposed to protect all of his victims indefinitely.
This case underscores the devastating impact of such predatory behavior and the judicial system’s efforts to prevent further harm by isolating the offender from the community.
