LEE DIXON AND SHOCKING SEXUAL MISCONDUCT IN MERSEYSEA AND CHESTER
Lee Dixon, a well-known figure in Merseyside sporting circles and a former cricket captain with ties to Chester County Cricket Club, has been sentenced to prison after being convicted of serious criminal offenses involving a teenage girl.Dixon, aged 31 and residing in Greasby, Wirral, was handed a two-year jail term following his admission to multiple charges, including three breaches of trust and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The court proceedings at Chester Crown Court revealed that Dixon, who first captained Chester County Cricket Club for a period of two years before resigning in the winter, had a history of involvement in youth cricket and was regarded as a respected sportsman in the local community.
However, his recent actions have cast a shadow over his reputation.
During the sentencing, Dixon is reported to have visibly sighed and appeared agitated as the verdict was delivered.
Court documents disclosed that Dixon was employed at a local school in the Merseyside area, though specific details about the institution could not be disclosed.
The victim, a 17-year-old girl, was not under Dixon’s direct supervision at the time of the offenses.
The incidents reportedly took place after Dixon and the girl encountered each other at a nightclub in April 2017, both of whom had consumed alcohol that evening.
Their interactions that night, initially casual, quickly turned flirtatious.
The girl recounted how they exchanged words about their school, the canteen, and even called him 'sir.' Her testimony detailed that their conversation became increasingly flirtatious, culminating in mutual kissing.
Following a brief separation, the two reconnected and moved to a secluded area where further sexual activity occurred, including Dixon performing a sex act on her.
Text messages exchanged later that night indicated both were interested in meeting again.
Dixon reportedly tried to persuade her to visit his flat, but she declined.
The following morning, the girl received Snapchat messages from Dixon, which included a photograph of his bare chest along with sexual references, further establishing their inappropriate connection.
Approximately one week subsequent to their initial encounter, Dixon picked her up in his car, and they drove to his shared residence.
There, they engaged in sexual activity once more amid a household environment temporarily disrupted by housemates who had been celebrating Dixon’s cricket victory that day.
After approximately two hours, Dixon returned the girl home.
The period following this encounter saw a pause in communication, during which the girl deleted Dixon from her Snapchat contacts.
However, concerns arose when rumors about their relationship began circulating within the school community, prompting the girl to re-establish contact.
Dixon reassured her that the rumors suggested she was involved with an English teacher, seeking to allay her worries.
Their communication resumed with another meeting during a heavy rainstorm, where no sexual activity occurred.
Nonetheless, Dixon later sent her a message, and they eventually met at his brother's vacant house, where sexual activity happened again.
A further charge related to Dixon’s efforts to conceal their relationship was admitted.
The court heard how he instructed the girl to downplay their encounters if questioned by school authorities or police, framing their activities as merely 'heavy petting.' Prosecutor Kevin Jones highlighted that Dixon explicitly advised her not to disclose that they had engaged in full sexual intercourse during police interviews, emphasizing his attempts to obstruct justice.
The court also revealed that Dixon made multiple calls to the girl in October and November 2017, seeking information on what details had been shared with authorities, indicating a desire to prepare and possibly manipulate the investigation.
Despite his involvement, Dixon was an active member of his local sporting community, contributing significantly by coaching youngsters and helping to establish a women’s cricket team.
Court proceedings acknowledged that there was no evidence to suggest his misconduct extended to his coaching roles or youth work.
Defense lawyer Gareth Roberts argued for a lenient sentence, emphasizing Dixon’s remorse and positive character references, which he claimed justified a suspended jail term and rehabilitation efforts.
The lawyer highlighted that Dixon was highly regarded in cricket circles but acknowledged his actions had irreparably damaged his life, citing the fact that he had lost his job and his home as consequences of his behavior.
Judge Patrick Thompson, in delivering the verdict, took into account Dixon’s guilty pleas, character references, and the profound impact of his actions on the victim.
The judge stressed the importance of trust placed in educators and pastoral staff, stating that parents rely heavily on individuals in such roles to safeguard their children.
He highlighted that the public's confidence in those responsible for children's welfare must be maintained.
Dixon was sentenced to 18 months in prison for each of the breaches of trust, served concurrently, with an additional six months for perverting the course of justice.
Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the severity of his misconduct and the state's commitment to protecting minors from abuse.
