July 2017 Derbyshire dad-of-two downloaded child abuse movies A father-of-two from Derbyshire has admitted to possessing the most serious type of illegal child abuse images. Nine Category A films and two category B movies were discovered on a computer that was seized from the home of Lee Brookes when they executed a warrant. They included moving footage of a 10-year-old naked girl and another of two children having sex, a court heard. The 42-year-old told police he did not know they were there when he was first interviewed. But in a second one he admitted he had downloaded them “out of curiosity” but that he “did not get any sexual gratification” from viewing them. Now he faces a wait to see if he will be sent to prison after a district judge sent the hearing to Derby Crown Court for sentencing. Ruth Bodin, prosecuting at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court, said police raided the home of Brookes, in Main Street, Newton Solney, on December 19 last year. She said: “A computer, an iPhone and two laptops were taken away for analysis. He told officers that he used the devices to download action films for himself and other films for his two children. The computer was analysed and the indecent images were found. When he was asked about them he denied knowing about them but did admit to downloading adult pornography.” She said police interviewed Brookes on a second occasion when he came clean about knowing the images were on the computer. She said: “When asked why he was dishonest (in the first interview) he said he was embarrassed. He said he downloaded them out of curiosity but had no sexual attraction to children and got no sexual excitement from viewing the films. He was described as very upset in the interview and he knows his actions will have an impact on his future.” As a result of his guilty plea Brookes has now automatically been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
