CLEANER AVOIDS PRISON DESPITE RELENTLESS STALKING IN FIFE
A man from Leven has avoided imprisonment despite engaging in persistent stalking and harassment of two women.Lee Brodie, aged 31 and residing on Wheatley Street, appeared via video link at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.
He admitted to repeatedly harassing a friend and a former partner by following them, bombarding them with messages, and sending unwanted deliveries.
Brodie’s conduct included over 100 calls and 21 Snapchat requests directed at the first woman, who saw their relationship as purely friendly, but Brodie saw it as romantic.
After she cancelled a meet-up she had planned with him and blocked him on Snapchat, he continued to contact her and her friend through social media.
He also breached a previous non-harassment order by arriving at her address and following her around, including following her to a bus station.
Brodie also directed abuse towards his ex-girlfriend, including unwanted calls, deliveries, and offensive texts.
He pled guilty to engaging in a cycle of abusive behavior.
The court sentenced him to 300 hours of unpaid work, placed him under supervision for two years, and issued a six-month restriction order banning him from leaving his home between 7 pm and 7 am.
A non-harassment order preventing him from contacting the second woman for three years was also issued, along with participation in the Caledonian Men’s Project.
The court’s orders aimed to prevent further harassment and protect the victims, acknowledging Brodie’s first-time offender status and pattern of abusive conduct.
