Paedophile wants to stay in prison
A man who admitted molesting 300 children has asked a judge to lock him up for life.
Lawrence Johnson, 58, said he dreamed about attacking children.
Psychiatrist Philip Huckle told the judge at Swansea Crown Court it may never be safe to release him from prison.
Johnson, from St Clears in Pembrokeshire, was jailed for life after admitting specimen charges of indecent assault and a serious sexual offence.
The court heard that he repeatedly attacked a six-year-old girl over a period of months – but the offences did not come to light until years later.
Prosecuting barrister Trefor Davies said that after his arrest Johnson told police that all he thought about was children.
He also admitted sexually assaulting a boy over a four year period, ending in 1994.
Mr Davies told the court that Johnson had been jailed in 1975, 1981 and 1999 for sex offences against children.
Defence barrister James Jenkins said the defendant saw no way of reforming and was genuinely afraid of being let loose.
The judge, Mr Justice Turner, said Johnson had admitted attacking more than 300 children.
“You represent a risk to any young person you come into contact with,” he said.
“It cannot be known when, if ever, you will cease to be a danger.”
