MAN JAILED FOR RAPING BABY 'PLUMBED DEPTHS OF SEXUAL DEPRAVITY'
A 34-year-old man who raped a baby has been jailed for life.
Christopher Phillips, from Pembrokeshire, was also sentenced for causing grievous bodily harm to the child, after being found guilty following a three-week trial.
At Swansea Crown Court, the judge described Phillips' crimes as "plumbed the depths of sexual depravity" and said it was the most distressing case he had dealt with in 40 years.
Court heard Phillips met the child's mother on Tinder in 2020 and met the baby when only a month old.
The court was told Phillips was under the influence of substances during the offences.
The baby's grandmother stated: "It brought absolute horror and devastation to the family." The judge, Mr.
Paul Thomas KC, sentenced Phillips to serve a minimum of 16 years and 25 days but warned he might spend his life in prison, calling him "a danger to children."
