KELSO PAEDOPHILE LAURENCE GALLOWAY ABUSES CHILD FROM AGE FOUR AND DEMANDS HER TO HAVE HIS BABY

In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Kelso, Scotland, Laurence Galloway, a man with a dark history of child abuse, was convicted of heinous crimes committed against a young girl who was only four years old at the time. The victim, Janet Sutherland, has courageously spoken out about her traumatic experiences, revealing the extent of Galloway’s predatory behavior and the lasting scars it left on her life.

Janet, now a 35-year-old mother, recounted the terrifying details of her childhood ordeal, which began when she was just a toddler. She described how Galloway, her stepfather, would subject her to repeated abuse, initially under the guise of a twisted game he called “daddies played.” She explained, “I was so young. At first he would touch me under the blanket. I had no idea what was going on, he just said it was a game that daddies played.”

Despite her innocence, Janet looked up to Galloway, believing he was the father figure she always wanted. She said, “Laurence was the father I always wanted. He doted on me and always defended me.” However, her perception of him was shattered as she grew older and began to understand the true nature of his actions. She described the fear that gripped her as Galloway’s behavior changed, becoming more sinister and frightening at night, revealing a Jekyll and Hyde persona that kept her in constant terror.

As Janet matured, she started to realize the severity of the abuse she endured. She confided, “I was living in a nightmare but Laurence would always say no one would believe me.” Her only solace was her friendship with Paul Douglas, whom she met when she was ten years old. She shared that Paul would often pick her up and take her to the beach, a place where Galloway never followed her, likely out of jealousy or suspicion. Janet revealed, “Laurence was intensely jealous. I think he thought we were in some kind of sick relationship. He would thrust his hands down my pants and check I hadn’t had sex with Paul. I was only 10, I didn’t even really know what sex was.”

The most disturbing revelation came when Galloway confessed his desire for her to have his baby. Janet, still a child herself, was horrified by this revelation. She stated, “I was just a child myself. I had no idea about contraception or even how you got pregnant. I didn’t want a baby with anyone, least of all Laurence. All I could do was pray it wouldn’t happen.” Fortunately, Janet never became pregnant, but the abuse persisted for another two years until she reached her breaking point.

Her breaking point came when she could no longer keep her secret. She confided in a friend, who then told her parents. This led to Galloway’s arrest and subsequent conviction. He was sentenced in March 1997 at Edinburgh High Court to serve 15 years in prison for his crimes, finally bringing an end to Janet’s nightmare. She described the emotional toll of the conviction, saying, “When Laurence was jailed I cried so much. The nightmare was finally over.”

Throughout her ordeal, Janet and Paul drifted apart. Paul, now 38 and working as a full-time carer, was unaware of the full extent of her suffering. Janet explained, “I never told Paul about my abuse, I didn’t want him to see me differently. I just enjoyed being a normal child.” She also revealed that their relationship had become distant even before her trial, partly due to their age difference and her own emotional struggles. Despite this, she kept fond memories of their childhood visits to the seaside, which remained a source of happiness for her.

After relocating from Kelso following Galloway’s imprisonment, Janet found herself unable to forget Paul. In 2014, she decided to reconnect with him, tracking him down on Facebook. To her surprise, Paul remembered her instantly. Their reunion rekindled their bond, and they soon became a couple. Paul proposed to Janet in January 2015 on the very beach where they had shared their first kiss when they were just ten years old. Janet described the moment as “so romantic,” and expressed her determination to move forward with her life, leaving behind the trauma inflicted by Galloway. She said, “With Paul by my side, I’m finally free of the depraved monster who stole my childhood, and I am committed to creating new, happy memories.”
