NOTTINGHAM SEX ATTACKER JAILED FOR SIX YEARS AFTER ATTEMPTED RAPE
A sex attacker raided a woman's home and came close to rape - but stopped when she bit his finger and fled naked onto a street.Homeless Lance Kernan, 32, was locked up for six years for the night attack at a Nottingham house after duping his way in and gaining the woman's pity.
Judge Rosalind Coe QC described it as "truly awful" and said: "She doesn't feel safe and comfortable in her home and must have been terrified.
She is nothing other than a very small older woman.
You are much more forceful and a larger man." "She resisted and you struggled with her, put hands around her throat, caused her pain and distress.
You managed to undress her completely.
"Taking advantage of you falling over, she bit your finger.
She escaped naked.
She was trying to get help, having flagged down a car." Kernan pleaded guilty to attempted rape on November 20.
The judge added that the woman initially "took some pity on him" and said: "You were clearly under the influence of alcohol and probably drugs." Matthew Smith, mitigating, said that Kernan would never have committed the offence while sober and is deeply remorseful.
Before the hearing, Kernan told him: "I deserve what I get.
This was appalling.
I want to know how she is.
She must have been terrified."
