KYRIL MCCLEAN'S SHOCKING CRIMINAL REIGN IN MALTON AND SCARBOROUGH REVEALED

In a series of disturbing incidents spanning several years, Kyril McClean, a man with a long history of criminal behavior, has committed multiple serious offenses in and around Malton and Scarborough. His criminal record includes sexual offenses, dangerous driving, public indecency, and violent threats, painting a troubling picture of a repeat offender with a pattern of reckless and harmful conduct.

In March 2019, McClean, aged 27, was convicted of engaging in sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl in Malton, despite claims that he had waited until she turned sixteen. The court heard that he had sex with her on at least three occasions when she was still underage. Prosecutor Philip Standfast revealed that police had issued a formal warning to McClean, instructing him to stay away from the girl while she was still only 15. Despite this, McClean engaged in sexual acts with her in various locations, including an alleyway adjacent to a cinema, inside a parked car in a garage, and in a tent. The court also heard allegations that he had raped a 13-year-old girl and had sexual activity with her in his flat in Malton. The younger girl claimed that McClean had tied a rope to his flat door to prevent her from entering. However, McClean denied these allegations during his testimony at York Crown Court, asserting that he had been told she was 18 and that he had not tied the door or heard her screaming.

Although he was acquitted of all charges related to the 13-year-old girl, the jury convicted him on the charges involving the 15-year-old girl. During the proceedings, Judge Andrew Stubbs QC informed the jury that McClean had admitted to another offense—sending abusive and threatening messages to his grandmother. The judge stated that the sentence for the offenses involving the girl and the grandmother would be postponed pending an assessment of McClean’s dangerousness by probation officers.

McClean’s criminal history is extensive. He was already on the sex offenders register prior to these latest convictions, having served time for indecent exposure in public. His past convictions include two for exposure, along with a long list of other crimes such as burglary, drug offenses, battery, theft, and criminal damage. Notably, he has four convictions for driving while disqualified. His previous sentences include a 12-month prison term for arson in August 2013 and a subsequent jail sentence for making explosives in 2014. He is scheduled to be sentenced on April 12.

In August 2016, McClean, then aged 24, was involved in a series of alarming incidents. He was caught on a bus in Scarborough exposing himself in front of a teenage girl, just weeks after being arrested for leading police on a dangerous car chase. The incident on March 2 occurred while McClean was on bail for serious driving offenses committed a month earlier. During the chase, he stole his grandmother’s Vauxhall Corsa without her permission, sped recklessly through Scarborough, and evaded police pursuit by swerving dangerously and ending up on a pavement. He was later arrested but initially denied being the driver. The vehicle was recovered two weeks later.

Following this, McClean was charged with dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and vehicle theft. Despite being bailed, he committed another offense by exposing himself on a bus, which was caught on CCTV. He bizarrely claimed he was at a foreign drugs factory with drug barons when questioned by police. This was his third conviction for flashing; his first was in 2011 at the Brunswick shopping center, and in March of the previous year, he was sentenced to four months in jail and placed on the sex offenders register after exposing himself on a train from Scarborough to York.

McClean, formerly residing on North Lane, Cayton, appeared in court to face sentencing for these recent offenses. Judge Neil Davey QC described the victim’s distress and emphasized that McClean posed a significant danger to the public. He sentenced McClean to 14 months in prison and imposed a 19-month driving ban. Additionally, a two-year restraining order was issued, prohibiting McClean from harassing or threatening his grandmother or using violence against her.

Throughout his criminal career, Kyril McClean has demonstrated a pattern of reckless and harmful behavior, with multiple convictions for sexual offenses, dangerous driving, public indecency, and threats. His actions have caused significant distress to victims and pose ongoing risks to the community in Malton, Scarborough, and beyond.
