February 2021 Lostock Hall internet pervert lured youngster to flat A convicted paedophile sexually abused a 13-year-old girl after luring her to his flat during their exchanges on social media. Kyle Sedgwick, also known as Keelon Sedgwick, 22, of Pages Court, Lostock Hall, Preston, was already subject to a sexual harm prevention order made by Bolton Crown Court in 2019 for having indecent images of children. The offences date back to June 2020 when Sedgwick encouraged the child to visit him. Prosecuting Barbara Webster described how the youngster, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told her grandparents she was visiting a female friend, and had been innocently dropped off at an address in Preston. She added: “Once inside she was directed to his bedroom. He claimed he was too tired and wanted to lie down. “Her mum had arranged to pick her up at 8pm.” The court heard Sedgwick began to ask her if she had ever had sex before and if she was on the Pill. The girl told him she was only 13, and he told her ‘not to tell anyone’. He removed her clothing and engaged in sexual activity with her. Miss Webster said when the girl’s mum picked her up, she noticed she was in a distressed state and biting her nails. She added: “The following day she was somewhat of a recluse. “Her grandmother was concerned, so much so she attended the defendant’s address. “She confronted the defendant and recorded that confrontation.” The court heard the girl’s grandmother asked if his mum and dad were in and he let slip he lived alone. At first he denied knowing the girl but later confessed to her that he had had sex with her. The girl’s family reported him to the police. Sedgwick admits four counts of sexual activity with a child, distributing and possessing indecent images and breaching a SHPO by having access to electronic devices. In a victim impact statement, summarised to the court, the girl described suffering periods of sleepless nights worrying what people will think of her. She said her relationship with her family had been affected, and that she had had to leave her school because she was “subject to malicious gossip from friends and friend’s parents”. In it she said: “I never escape from the paranoia that I’m being talked about by my peers.” Miss Webster said her family had also made statements, with her grandfather describing his “desperate guilt” of driving her to the property where she was sexually abused. In a separate incident Sedgwick created a Cloud account where he stored and shared hundreds of vile images – 449 – of children as young as three months old being abused. Judge Philip Parry jailed him for seven years and ordered him to sign the Sex Offender’s Register indefinitely. He also imposed a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years. December 2018 Wigan man, 21, admits child sexual abuse images offences A Wigan man has admitted to child porn offences. Keelon Sedgwick, 21, of Brecon Close, Platt Bridge, appeared before Wigan magistrates accused of making indecent pseudo-photographs of children. He pleaded guilty to the two charges: one concerning the making of five category A (the most serious) images and two of category B images. Sedgwick was remanded on unconditional bail pending his sentencing which is due to take place at Bolton Crown Court on January 2.
