KYLE MCCORMACK SHOCKS LOCHORE AND CARNDEEN WITH VIOLENT ATTACK AND HIDING IN ATTIC
A 27-year-old man named Kyle McCormack was involved in a violent incident that took place in the streets of Lochore and Carndeen, leading to his appearance in court and subsequent sentencing. The incident unfolded after McCormack confronted his former partner in a confrontation that escalated quickly. According to reports, the woman had clearly expressed her desire not to rekindle their relationship, but McCormack's reaction was far from peaceful.Witnesses in the area of Westfield Terrace, Carndeen, heard loud screams coming from the scene, which drew the attention of nearby residents. It was during this altercation that McCormack, in a fit of rage, assaulted his former partner by repeatedly punching her on the head and body. The attack caused visible injuries, and the victim was left extremely distressed and upset. The depute fiscal Amy Robertson explained that the couple had been together for four years, but their relationship had officially ended in June of the previous year. Despite this, McCormack's anger seemed to have persisted, culminating in the violent assault on August 18.
On that day, McCormack followed the woman into the street, shouting at her and refusing to leave her alone. The situation grew more intense as he physically attacked her, prompting a woman nearby to intervene by banging on her window in an attempt to deter him. This disturbance caused McCormack to flee the scene, but not before taking her house keys, which added to the distress of the victim.
Police officers responded swiftly to the scene and found the woman in a state of extreme upset. During their investigation, they discovered that McCormack had been hiding in the attic of the woman's house, attempting to evade arrest. His actions and the subsequent discovery of him hiding in the attic formed the basis of the charges he faced.
McCormack appeared before Dunfermline Sheriff Court to face sentencing for a series of offences he had admitted. These included breaching bail conditions by contacting his former partner and entering Craigside Road, Carndeen, on August 17 and 18 of the previous year. His defence solicitor, Stephen Morrison, argued that McCormack's alcohol consumption at the time impaired his memory of the events, which he claimed contributed to his behaviour.
In sentencing, Sheriff Garry Sutherland ordered McCormack to serve a community payback order with two years of supervision and 180 hours of unpaid work. Additionally, he was issued a three-year non-harassment order to prevent further contact with the victim, aiming to protect her from future harm.
