KYLE CARTER'S SHOCKING CRIMES IN BURNLEY: SEXUAL OFFENSE AND KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY

In November 2019, a disturbing case unfolded in Burnley involving Kyle Carter, a young man whose actions have left a trail of serious criminal allegations and convictions.

The case was heard at Burnley Crown Court, revealing a series of troubling incidents that highlight Carter's criminal behavior and the consequences he faced.

It was established that Carter, aged 19 at the time, was initially convicted and sentenced to two years in a young offenders' institution for persuading a vulnerable 14-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity with him.

The court heard that the sexual offense took place in July 2018, during a period when the girl was residing in temporary accommodation.

The prosecution, led by Alison Mather, detailed that the primary contact between Carter and the girl was through text messages.

Despite this, they eventually arranged to meet in person.

According to police interviews, the girl had made plans to meet Carter and appeared willing to do so.

The two met at a location identified as Farmfoods, a supermarket in Burnley, where they went for a walk together.

Their outing culminated at a friend’s property, which was unoccupied at the time, as no other adults were present.

Inside the lounge area of this property, Carter and the girl engaged in consensual sexual intercourse.

The court was informed that the girl’s mother was later made aware of the incident and questioned her daughter, who confirmed that they had indeed had sex.

When Carter was arrested, he admitted to having sex with the girl but claimed he believed she was 16 years old, not underage.

Initially, he was released under investigation, and in March, authorities decided not to pursue further action against him.

However, this decision was challenged by the girl’s mother, who appealed, leading to Carter being formally charged with engaging in sexual activity with a child.

Carter pleaded guilty to this charge.

While still on bail for the sexual offense, Carter committed another serious crime on August 22.

He attempted to rob a convenience store located on Lyndhurst Road in Burnley.

Surveillance footage played in court showed Carter entering the store with his face covered by a scarf and his hood pulled up, attempting to conceal his identity.

He then brandished a knife, threatening shopkeeper Ehtisman Sajjad and demanding money.

Despite a confrontation where Mr.

Sajjad tried to disarm him, Carter fled the scene empty-handed.

Mr.

Sajjad recognized Carter’s voice immediately, as he was a familiar customer who often visited the shop with friends.

Following his arrest, Carter was charged with attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.

During sentencing, Judge Simon Medland QC emphasized the gravity of Carter’s actions, especially considering the vulnerabilities of the victim in the sexual case.

The judge stated, “The victim had her own vulnerabilities and you took advantage of that.

Although the act of sex itself may, in the strictest term, have been consensual, everything about it must have indicated this was a girl going along with it from start to finish rather than having any input.” As a result, Carter was sentenced to two years in a young offenders’ institution.

Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years and was prohibited from having any contact with the victim or her mother for the same duration.

This case underscores the serious consequences of exploiting vulnerable individuals and committing violent crimes in Burnley.
