LIVERPOOL BOY, 12, SENTENCED FOR CHILD RAPE IN SHOCKING CASE
A boy aged 12 has been convicted for the rape of a nine-year-old girl during a game of hide and seek at his home in the Wavertree area on April 4 of the previous year. The assault took place while they were upstairs playing, and the girl later confided in her mother, leading to police investigation.
DNA evidence confirmed the boy's guilt with a one billion to one probability of it being anyone else.
The court heard that the boy, then 11, held the girl down and raped her despite her objections.
He was found guilty of one rape charge and acquitted of others related to similar allegations.
In court, the judge highlighted the physical and psychological harm inflicted and noted the boy's lack of remorse, with reports suggesting he was almost proud of his conduct.
The sentence includes a two and a half-year detention and a lifetime inclusion on the Sex Offenders Register.
The judge also lifted restrictions on revealing the offender’s identity.
