KRZYSTOF KARWAT'S SHOCKING BRISTOL BATHROOM SPYING CRIME REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Bristol community, Krzytof Karwat, a plumber from the city, was found to have secretly installed a covert surveillance device in a bathroom ceiling to film a pregnant woman during her shower. The incident, which took place over a period spanning from December 2014 to February of the following year, was uncovered after a family in Bristol noticed a suspicious hole drilled into their bathroom ceiling.
Concerned about the unusual hole, the family contacted authorities, prompting an inspection of their property.
During the investigation, police discovered that Karwat had clandestinely placed a small circuit board and a camera lens within the eaves of the bathroom ceiling.
The device was connected to an electrical socket located in the loft, allowing continuous recording of anyone using the shower.
This brazen act of voyeurism was captured on seven illicit recordings stored on Karwat’s computer.
Further examination of Karwat’s digital devices revealed a disturbing collection of 23 indecent images of children, including both still photographs and eight videos classified as Category A, indicating the most severe level of abuse.
These findings added a deeply troubling dimension to the case, highlighting the extent of Karwat’s criminal behavior.
At Bristol Crown Court, the 36-year-old man faced justice for his actions.
He pleaded guilty to two charges of voyeurism and possession of indecent images.
The court heard how Karwat’s actions had caused significant distress to his victims, with statements from the affected family members describing feelings of shock and sickness at the invasion of their privacy.
Judge Julian Lambert addressed Karwat directly, emphasizing the gravity of his offenses.
“You have a very serious problem you need to work on,” he stated.
“You need to come away from perverted images and stealing away from people their intimate moments.” As part of his sentence, Karwat was given an eight-month prison term, suspended for two years, and was ordered to undergo up to a year of sex offender treatment.
He was also subjected to a strict one-year curfew, requiring him to remain at home from 8 pm to 7 am.
Authorities confiscated his mobile phone, computer, and camera equipment to prevent further misuse.
Additionally, Karwat was placed under a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, which prohibits him from accessing the internet without police approval and working in properties with showers or toilets unless he reports this to authorities.
He is also mandated to register as a sex offender for ten years and is subject to a restraining order preventing him from contacting the family he targeted for the same period.
Upon leaving court, Karwat declined to comment on the case.
The investigation also revealed that his computer contained a total of 23 indecent images of children, including both stills and videos, with some classified as the most serious Category A level of abuse.
The victims, including the pregnant woman and the family involved, expressed their feelings of shock and disgust at Karwat’s actions.
The father of the family, who was targeted by Karwat’s spying attempt, told The Bristol Evening Post, “I’m just stunned really.
It is probably cheaper to help them than to put them in prison.
He’s not got any punishment.
All I would do is to ask people to beware of who they employ and let into their house.”
