PERTH MAN KRZYSTOF BARSZCYNSKI JAILED FOR REPEATED DOMESTIC ABUSE
A sheriff in Perth, Lindsay Foulis, sentenced Krzystof Barszcynski, aged 41, to 10 months in jail after he admitted to abusing his wife, Marzena Tomczyk, through both verbal and physical assaults. The incident that led to his arrest occurred on November 28 when Barszcynski shoved his wife into a wall, an act witnessed by a nine-year-old child.
Despite being arrested and released on bail with strict conditions—including no contact with his wife and not entering their shared home—Barszcynski reentered the residence on December 23, where he was found in bed smoking a cigarette.
His previous behavior included threatening to stab himself with a kitchen knife after returning home upset about his wife wearing makeup.
He was seen taking a knife from a drawer and placing it under a pillow, then later threatening to stab himself with the weapon.
Bernardino claimed he had no intention of harming others, citing alcohol consumption and seeking help for his drinking problem.
However, Sheriff Foulis viewed these actions as unacceptable, emphasizing this is effectively his fourth domestic abuse-related conviction and highlighting the risks he pose to his partner and the community.
The sheriff stated, 'Your previous case had been deferred for good behavior, meaning you had been given a position of trust.
This is effectively the fourth time you have been convicted of a matter which falls within the category of domestic abuse.' He also remarked, 'Sometimes people have to be protected from themselves and I also have to consider the message sent out to the wider public.
These actions are totally unacceptable.'
