EX-SOLDIER JAILED FOR THREATENING VULNERABLE TEEN WITH INTIMATE PHOTOS
A sheriff has questioned the relationship between a former Black Watch soldier and a "vulnerable" young woman, after he threatened to release intimate photos of her.
Kristopher Cruden, aged 44, was involved in a series of troubling incidents after his relationship with the woman, who was less than half his age, became known to police.
The police discovered his missing mobile phone in the grounds of Scone Palace, which contained unsettling texts.
Cruden admitted to sending sexual messages without consent, including a threat to rape his ex-partner, and threatened to disclose a photo of her in an intimate situation to cause her fear, alarm, or distress.
The court proceedings revealed that Cruden's phone and SIM card were handed over to police, where messages calling the victim a "dirty slut" were found.
He also made sexually explicit threats involving her and the potential release of her images.
Perth Sheriff Gillian Wade commented, "These are serious offences.
And the appropriateness of your relationship with this young girl is very questionable indeed." Cruden was ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work, placed on supervision for two years, and his name will be referred to Scottish Ministers to consider whether he should be banned from working with children or vulnerable adults.
His mental and physical health issues, and his reclusive lifestyle since his military discharge, were noted during proceedings.
