KRISTOFFER DRYBURGH FROM BONNYRIGG AND KINGHORN JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of Bonnyrigg and Kinghorn, a man named Kristoffer Dryburgh has been sentenced to prison after being found in possession of an alarming collection of child abuse images and extreme pornography. The investigation, carried out by Police Scotland’s cyber crime unit, uncovered a horrifying cache of over 69,000 images depicting children as young as one year old being subjected to sexual abuse by adults.Dryburgh, aged 35 and residing in Kinghorn, Fife, was apprehended following a police raid on his home in Bonnyrigg, Midlothian, on the morning of August 23 last year. During the operation, officers seized an iPhone which contained two explicit photographs taken at a friend’s residence in Glasgow. These images, taken in November 2018, showed a woman’s young daughter being sexually assaulted, with an adult hand pushing apart her buttocks to expose her genitals. The investigation revealed that the images were captured at the home of a female friend of Dryburgh, who had two young daughters.
Further inquiries uncovered a vast collection of illicit material stored on an external hard drive, including hundreds of videos and thousands of images. The total number of images downloaded by Dryburgh was recorded at 69,281, with an additional 1,331 movies. The images were categorized into different levels of severity, with 3,483 classified as Category A, indicating the most depraved content, and 3,454 as Category B, along with 62,344 in Category C. The videos included 674 Category A movies, 215 Category B, and 442 Category C, depicting extreme acts involving children and, in some cases, animals.
Authorities also discovered 56 images and 40 videos of extreme pornography involving sexual acts between adults and animals, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material Dryburgh possessed. The police investigation confirmed that the images and videos were downloaded over a period stretching from December 17, 2017, to August 23, 2019, at the Bonnyrigg address.
Dryburgh pleaded guilty to three charges in Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week. These charges included possession of indecent images of children and taking or permitting the taking of such images at his Bonnyrigg residence. He also admitted to possessing extreme pornographic material involving animals. Sheriff Norman McFadyen ordered that Dryburgh be placed on the sex offenders register and remanded him in custody. The court deferred sentencing until October to allow for social work reports and a comprehensive risk assessment to be prepared, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the potential threat to the community.
