KRISTER HILTON'S SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE PLOT IN CARDIFF REVEALED
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the Cardiff community, Krister Hilton, a 39-year-old man from Trowbridge, Cardiff, was found guilty of engaging in a series of predatory and illegal communications with a decoy posing as a 14-year-old girl. The incident, which unfolded in January 2021, involved Hilton sending explicit images, voice recordings, and videos to the decoy, who was part of a paedophile hunter group attempting to expose such criminal behavior.
According to court proceedings, Hilton initiated contact with the decoy through a Facebook account that used a false profile picture of a younger individual.
On January 9, he sent a friend request and shortly thereafter made multiple audio calls through Facebook Messenger, which the decoy did not answer.
When she responded by claiming she was with her family and was only 14 years old, Hilton continued his inappropriate advances, sending her a voice message stating, "Wait till you're 16.
I'll be happy to wait for you for sex." He also instructed her not to tell her parents about their conversations, warning that "Your parents would kill me." Hilton's messages grew increasingly explicit, including voice recordings of moaning, groaning, and heavy breathing.
When questioned by the decoy about these messages, he responded by sending a photograph of himself topless.
The following day, he further crossed boundaries by asking if she wanted him to masturbate and sent a nude photo of himself lying on a bed with his erect penis visible.
He expressed love for her and inquired if she loved him, also requesting her phone number and proposing to call her.
In addition to these messages, Hilton sent a suggestive video of himself licking his fingers and lips, along with a photo of his nipple, asking for a picture of the decoy in return.
Throughout the exchanges, he repeatedly pressed for sexual activity, asking if she would consider traveling to Wales to stay with him and continue their illicit communication.
When the decoy indicated she was too young, Hilton responded with a proposal to move to Cardiff so they could have sex daily.
The decoy, recognizing the inappropriate and illegal nature of the messages, handed over all evidence—including videos, audio messages, and chat transcripts—to the police.
Officers attended Hilton’s residence on Rhodfa Crughywel in Cardiff on January 13 and arrested him.
During police interviews, Hilton made a partial admission, acknowledging that he had messaged someone on Facebook but refused to comment further.
Later, Hilton pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to engage in sexual communications with a child and attempting to cause a child to view sexual images.
It was noted that he has no prior criminal convictions.
The court, presided over by Judge Michael Fitton QC, considered whether to impose immediate custody but decided instead to suspend his sentence.
Hilton was sentenced to 12 months in prison, suspended for 18 months, and was ordered to complete a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Additionally, he was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that will remain in effect for ten years, aiming to prevent any future offenses of a similar nature.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and community groups in Cardiff to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predatory behavior.
The authorities continue to emphasize the importance of vigilance and reporting suspicious activity to prevent such crimes from occurring in the future.
