KONDRAD ZABIELSKI CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN STOWMARKET POLICE STATION

In April 2014, a disturbing case emerged involving Kondrad Zabielski, a 33-year-old resident of Stowmarket, who was found to be in possession of indecent images of children. The incident unfolded when Zabielski voluntarily handed over two computers to the local police station in Stowmarket, claiming that his devices had been hacked to produce the illicit content. He insisted that unknown third parties had infiltrated his laptops and manipulated the data to make it appear as though he was involved in the possession of such material.

However, police investigators, including a computer expert, conducted a thorough examination of the devices. Their findings contradicted Zabielski’s claims, revealing that the computers had not been compromised by external hacking. Instead, the expert confirmed that the devices had been used extensively for the purpose of viewing and storing indecent images of children. Following this revelation, authorities proceeded to search Zabielski’s home, located in The Square, Stowmarket.

During the search, law enforcement officials uncovered additional illicit material stored on another computer and a hard drive. The evidence was alarming: Zabielski possessed a total of 138 movies and 117 images depicting young children in sexually explicit contexts. Some of this material was stored in a password-protected, hidden folder on one of the computers, indicating an attempt to conceal the content from casual access.

Forensic analysis confirmed that all the devices had been used “profoundly in pursuit of indecent images of children,” according to police experts. The severity of the case was underscored by the fact that Zabielski had committed multiple offences, including four counts of making indecent images of children and one count of possession of such images.

During proceedings at Ipswich Crown Court, Zabielski pleaded guilty to all charges. His legal representative, Ian James, offered mitigation, explaining that “this offending happened when there had been some emotional upsets in his life,” suggesting that personal difficulties may have contributed to his actions. It was also noted that Zabielski had no prior criminal record related to this type of offending.

Judge Gerard Pounder, presiding over the case, addressed Zabielski directly during sentencing. He emphasized the seriousness of the crimes, stating, “These are serious matters, there is no doubt about it, because you are the end user of things which exploit young children across the planet. If people didn’t download this type of pornography, there would be no demand for it.”

As part of his sentence, Zabielski was ordered to complete a three-year community order under the supervision of the Probation Service. Additionally, he was mandated to spend 200 hours participating in an Internet Sex Offender Treatment programme. The judge issued a stern warning, saying, “This is not a soft option. If you fail to commit to this programme, you will be brought back to court and it is almost inevitable you will go to prison.”
