BURNLEY MAN SENTENCED FOR ONLINE GROOMING OF A CHILD AGED 13
Kirk Gibson, who resides in Burnley, has been sentenced to prison after attempting to engage in sexual communication with a minor.Gibson communicated with the child in a highly sexual manner, which led to him encouraging the child to masturbate and send explicit images of themselves.
He also coerced the child into penetration and bought her a phone in exchange for a photo of her in her school uniform.
His plans were thwarted when he arrived at a meeting spot with the intention of having sex with her.
Furthermore, Gibson attempted to involve the child in sexual acts, failed to comply with his sex offender notification requirements, and breached the conditions of his sexual harm prevention order.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Additionally, Gibson must register as a sex offender for an indefinite period, continue under a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely, and pay a statutory surcharge of £228 within 28 days after being released from prison.
