MAN JAILED FOR VOYEURISM AND RELATED OFFENCES
A serial voyeur who admitted filming people having sex in their own homes has been jailed.Kirk Geoff Bishop, 40, confessed to 17 criminal charges, which included break-in and unlawful access with the intent to sexually exploit, during proceedings in Guernsey's Royal and Magistrates' Courts earlier this year.
He received an eight-year jail term.
Judge Russell Finch expressed concern about his potential for future offenses and described the crimes as "wicked" and "depraved," emphasizing the long-lasting distress inflicted upon victims.
Prosecutor Fiona Russell explained that Bishop's actions created a persistent sense of fear and insecurity for those affected, with two victims needing psychological therapy.
During the court session, Bishop largely kept his head bowed and only responded to affirm some charges.
Crown advocate Sam Steel mentioned that Bishop offered a sincere apology to the victims.
A character statement read aloud by Steel revealed that Bishop's partner was still living with him, acknowledging that significant change was necessary and that trust must be rebuilt.
One victim, referred to as Miss C in court documents, reported that she first alerted authorities in April 2025 after discovering someone filming her from outside her bedroom.
Police launched an investigation, detaining an individual for three days who was subsequently released without charges.
Evidence pointed towards Bishop following his arrest in September 2025, when police examined his phone.
Initially detained on suspicion of burglary, police found multiple images and videos on his device, which led to further charges.
Two victims, known as Mr A and Miss B, identified Bishop after he entered their flat in St Peter Port.
According to Judge Russell, Miss B screamed upon seeing Bishop in her home, prompting him to flee outside while Mr A pursued him.
Bishop then tried to attack Mr A with a wooden plank, but a struggle ensued and he was detained by Mr A and a bystander who witnessed the incident before police arrested him.
Police investigation revealed 121 voyeuristic images on Bishop's phone, including 60 photos of Mr A and Miss B inside their home over the last two years.
Further evidence identified at least ten other victims.
Police also found stolen underwear belonging to Miss B in Bishop’s car, parked at Beau Sejour Leisure Centre.
In total, authorities identified 14 victims of Bishop's offenses.
Victim impact statements were submitted but not read aloud in court, as the judge deemed it unnecessary.
However, Russell highlighted the effects on victims: Miss C, after being filmed post-shower, installed security measures, took two and a half weeks off work, and now lives in constant fear.
Furthermore, Miss B reported being afraid to stay alone at home, with her partner Mr A considering changing his work hours to avoid leaving her alone at night.
