KIMBERLEY CONSTANT SHOCKS LEICESTER WITH BRUTAL NEW YEAR'S DAY ATTACK ON EX-PARTNER

In a disturbing incident that unfolded on New Year’s Day in Leicester, Kimberley Constant was found guilty by a jury of unlawfully wounding her former partner in a violent assault. The court heard that the attack was both sudden and severe, leaving the victim with life-threatening injuries that required immediate medical intervention.

According to court reports, the assault began when Constant, who resides at May Close, Braunstone, Leicester, physically grabbed her ex-girlfriend by the hair. She then forcefully pulled the woman’s head backwards, exposing her neck in a vulnerable position. Seizing the moment, Constant produced a large carving knife and slashed the victim’s jugular vein and carotid artery. The attack resulted in a significant and dangerous loss of blood, with the victim bleeding profusely.

Despite the severity of the wound, the victim managed to control the bleeding temporarily by using a towel, which she pressed against her neck. Emergency services were called to the scene, and paramedics arrived promptly to provide critical care. During the emergency surgery at the hospital, the victim received nine pints of blood to replace the lost volume and stabilize her condition. The incident left her in a life-threatening state, and her survival was considered a close call.

During the trial, the court heard the victim’s harrowing account as blood continued to spurt from her neck. She reportedly told Constant, “You’ve just killed me, you’ve just stabbed me and I’m going to die now,” highlighting the gravity of her injuries and the trauma she endured.

While Constant was acquitted of the more serious charge of wounding with intent, she was convicted on a majority verdict of 10-2 for unlawfully wounding her ex-partner. The court found that her actions, though extremely violent, were not premeditated. She was subsequently sentenced to three years in prison for her role in the attack.

Constant’s defense claimed that her ex-partner had stabbed herself after they returned from a night out, attempting to shift blame. However, evidence presented during the trial clearly indicated that Constant was responsible for the assault. The court noted that she acted quickly to assist her injured ex-partner after the attack, demonstrating remorse and concern for her well-being.

Judge Ebrahim Mooncey emphasized that the injury was life-threatening but underscored that the attack was not premeditated. He acknowledged her immediate regret and the efforts she made to help her victim, which influenced the sentencing decision. The court also highlighted the complex and tumultuous nature of their relationship, which had involved alcohol consumption that night. Despite the violence, the court recognized that Constant did not intend to cause serious harm, and her character was supported by her family and friends. Ultimately, she was sentenced to three years in jail, reflecting the seriousness of her actions but also considering her remorse and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
