KIERAN WEBB FROM BURTON SENTENCED FOR ATTEMPTED RAPE AND ROBBERY NEAR SHOBNALL FIELDS

A 22-year-old man from Burton has been branded as “truly dangerous” by law enforcement officials following a heinous series of crimes that shocked the local community. Kieran Webb was convicted and subsequently sentenced to seven and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of attempting to commit a sexual assault on a minor and for a separate robbery incident.

The troubling events unfolded on the evening of September 16, 2021, when Staffordshire Police responded to distress calls reporting an attempted rape near the well-known Shobnall Fields area in Burton. Officers arrived at the scene around 8:15 pm to find evidence of a serious assault attempt involving a child under the age of 16. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, prompting a swift and thorough investigation by the Child Protection and Exploitation Team of Staffordshire Police.

In the days that followed, Webb’s criminal activities did not cease. Approximately one week after the attempted assault, Webb was involved in another disturbing incident where he robbed a woman of her bicycle close to the same vicinity of Shobnall Fields. This additional offense further underscored the dangerous nature of Webb’s actions and his apparent disregard for the safety and well-being of others.

Following an extensive investigation, Webb was apprehended and charged with multiple serious offenses. He was taken into custody and faced the court, where he pleaded guilty to both the attempted rape of a minor and the robbery. Webb, who resides on Calais Road in Burton, appeared before Stafford Crown Court to face justice for his crimes.

After a detailed trial, Webb was sentenced to a total of seven and a half years behind bars. The sentence reflects the gravity of his offenses and the court’s recognition of the threat he posed to the community.

Detective Sergeant Shelley Burns, a representative of the Child Protection and Exploitation Team, expressed her thoughts on the case: “I am extremely proud of my team who all worked tirelessly to gather the overwhelming evidence that secured Webb’s conviction. Webb is a truly dangerous man and the manner in which he preyed on vulnerable lone females reflected this.”

She also extended her gratitude to the victims and their families, acknowledging their strength and courage in coming forward and providing vital evidence that contributed to Webb’s conviction. The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilant law enforcement and community cooperation in tackling serious crimes and protecting vulnerable individuals.
