KIERAN RICHARDSON FROM ELDENE AND WEYMOUTH SENT BACK TO JAIL FOR BREACHING SEX OFFENDER ORDER

In August 2015, Kieran Richardson, a convicted sex offender with a troubling history linked to Eldene and Weymouth, was remanded back into custody after admitting to multiple breaches of a sexual offences prevention order. Richardson, aged 23 at the time, had previously served a five-year prison sentence following his 2011 conviction for a series of heinous sexual crimes involving a young girl.

Richardson’s earlier conviction stemmed from his sexual assault of a three-year-old girl, which included sexual assault by penetration, and the act of filming the abuse on his mobile phone. As part of his sentence, he was subjected to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order designed to prevent him from having unauthorized contact with children. Despite this, Richardson appeared before Dorchester Crown Court to face allegations that he had violated this order on seven separate occasions between November 5 of the previous year and January 19 of the current year.

Prosecutor Simon Jones detailed that Richardson had visited a residence in Weymouth where a one-year-old baby and a three-year-old girl were present. It was reported that Richardson had stayed overnight at this address on multiple occasions, and on some of these visits, other young children were also present. The defendant was arrested on January 21, and during police interviews, he initially denied the allegations. However, he later admitted to the breaches during his first court appearance.

Richardson’s criminal record is marked by a series of disturbing offences. His original conviction involved the sexual assault of a young girl under 13, sexual assault by penetration, and the taking of indecent photographs of the child. These offences involved Richardson abusing the three-year-old girl and recording the abuse on his mobile device. The court heard that Richardson’s actions caused significant harm and distress, and the case drew considerable attention due to the severity of the crimes.

During the hearing, Naomi Gyane, representing Richardson, explained that her client believed he was permitted to have contact with the children because he had informed the Probation Service of his interactions. She clarified that Richardson thought he was within his rights to visit the property, but acknowledged that because his contact had not been officially approved, he was in breach of the court order. Gyane emphasized that Richardson was never left alone with the children and insisted that he had not engaged in any inappropriate conduct.

She further noted that since his release from prison in 2013, Richardson had managed to maintain stable employment and had not been involved in any further criminal activity. However, Judge Douglas Field was unequivocal in his assessment, stating that Richardson posed a clear and present risk to children of similar ages to those involved in the breaches. The judge highlighted that the breaches were deliberate and occurred over a period of three months, underscoring the seriousness of the matter.

Judge Field sentenced Richardson to 30 months in prison for each of the seven breaches, with all sentences to run concurrently. The indefinite sexual offences prevention order would remain in effect, continuing to restrict Richardson’s contact with children. The judge’s comments reflected the gravity of the situation, emphasizing the potential danger Richardson represented to vulnerable children in the Weymouth area.

In a related case from June 2011, Richardson’s disturbing history was further highlighted. At that time, he was convicted of sexually abusing a three-year-old girl, filming the assault on his mobile phone. The victim’s mother, who cannot be named for legal reasons, expressed her profound regret and feelings of failure as a parent. She revealed that Richardson had sexually assaulted her daughter twice, with the incidents occurring in April and June of the previous year, coinciding with Richardson’s 18th birthday.

The mother recounted that she discovered the videos on Richardson’s phone after being horrified by what she saw. Richardson had filmed himself abusing the young girl, and he could not provide a clear explanation for his actions. During the court proceedings, Richardson pleaded guilty to charges of sexual assault by penetration of a child under 13, sexual assault of a child under 13, and two counts of taking indecent photographs of a child. The court was told that Richardson was alone with the victim during both incidents.

Judge Euan Ambrose sentenced Richardson to an extended term of seven and a half years, comprising five years in prison and a two-and-a-half-year license period. Additional sentences included two years for each of the sexual assault and indecent photo charges, to run concurrently. Richardson’s name was also ordered to be placed on the sex offenders’ register, and a sexual offences prevention order was issued to remain until further notice. Richardson had already served 254 days in custody on remand, which was credited towards his overall sentence.

Throughout these proceedings, Richardson’s case has drawn significant concern from the community and legal authorities alike, highlighting the ongoing risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offending, especially when breaches of court orders occur. His case underscores the importance of vigilant monitoring and strict enforcement of restrictions designed to protect vulnerable children from potential harm.
