KIERAN PHILLIPS, YORK, SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING TEEN GIRLS AND STEROID USE
In September 2017, a bullying sex offender on steroids was found guilty of exploiting underage girls for sexual gratification in York.Mehran Nassiri, prosecuting, explained that Kieran Ira Phillips, then 20 years old, attempted to involve a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old in a threesome, but both girls refused.
During the case, it was revealed that Phillips referred to the older girl as his "little sex slave" and the younger as his "little princess." The court heard that while out in public, Phillips pushed the younger girl into some public toilets.
On another occasion, he attempted to coerce her into touching him sexually.
After the younger girl reported the incident to police, Phillips responded by offering the older girl £200 through an intermediary in exchange for changing her police statement and also sent her threats.
His barrister, Robert Stevenson, stated that Phillips began using steroids in 2016, which he claimed contributed to his criminal behavior.
Phillips, of Huby Court, Speculation Street, pleaded guilty to charges of assault, sexual assault, and witness intimidation.
He was sentenced to seven months in prison, to be served consecutively after a 20-month sentence he is currently serving for separate offenses involving actual bodily harm and assault.
These involved Phillips and friends, all intoxicated, attacking two servicemen late at night.
Additionally, Phillips is required to register as a sex offender for seven years and was subject to a sexual harm prevention order that prohibits him from contacting the two girls involved for five years.
Judge Andrew Stubbs QC remarked on misconceptions about steroids, stating, "Many think steroids are harmless.
One only needs to look at the downward spiral and the trouble you have got into since you started using them to see that is not the case." He also criticized Phillips's behavior, saying, "You were in a bullying frame of mood with this young girl and used your physical strength and your greater age to use her for your own sexual gratification."
