KIERAN LORD SHOCKS EXETER WITH SEXUAL OFFENSES ON PUBLIC FIELDS AND STREETS
In November 2019, a disturbing series of sexual misconducts committed by Kieran Lord in Exeter drew widespread attention and led to severe legal consequences.Lord, who was found to have engaged in inappropriate and criminal behavior in public spaces, was ultimately banned from every playing field across Britain, a rare and comprehensive restriction aimed at preventing further incidents.
Lord's offending spree began after a day spent drinking on Cathedral Green, a popular gathering spot in Exeter.
As he made his way home near Polsloe Road railway station, he encountered two women who were strangers to him.
Without warning, Lord approached them and initiated a series of sexual assaults.
According to court reports, he first grabbed their bottoms over their clothing, then proceeded to touch their private areas, causing significant distress and fear.
His actions did not stop there.
Moving to a public play area, Lord continued his disturbing behavior by approaching a group of teenagers, both male and female.
In a shocking display of indecency, he put his hand down his shorts and began masturbating in front of the young people, further terrorizing the group.
The incidents, which occurred in broad daylight, left witnesses and victims shaken and alarmed.
Details from the court proceedings reveal that Lord's assaults started with the two women, both of whom he approached around 7 pm on June 28 of that year.
Prosecutor Miss Christine Hart stated that Lord told the first woman she was beautiful and gorgeous before grabbing her bottom.
He then repeated this behavior with the second woman, escalating his misconduct.
Later, at the Hamlin Lane playing fields, Lord targeted a 15-year-old girl, complimenting her with remarks about her appearance before masturbating in front of children on two separate occasions.
Lord, aged 31 and formerly residing in Budlake near Broadclyst, admitted to two counts of sexual assault and two counts of outraging public decency.
It was reported that he is now living in Cullompton.
His sentencing took place at Exeter Crown Court, where Judge Peter Johnson handed down a six-month jail sentence, suspended for two years.
Additionally, Lord was ordered to attend sex offenders' treatment courses and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
One of the most significant rulings was the imposition of a seven-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
This order explicitly bans Lord from entering any play parks, playing fields, or recreation grounds, and from following women in the street.
The court also advised that Lord could potentially apply to have these restrictions modified if he joined a legitimate sports team that uses public playing fields, providing a pathway for possible reintegration under strict conditions.
Judge Johnson emphasized the gravity of Lord's actions, stating, “You sexually attacked two complete strangers.
These women were going about their lawful business when you came upon them, and within five minutes, you carried out very similar attacks.
You grabbed hold of their bottoms, albeit over clothing, before moving your hand to their vaginal area.
If that was not enough, you twice approached young children in their teens in a park and thrust your hand down your shorts and started to masturbate.” This case highlights the serious consequences of sexual misconduct in public spaces and underscores the importance of safeguarding community members, especially vulnerable individuals, from such predatory behavior.
