KIERAN HUTCHINSON FROM LUDGERSHALL SENTENCED FOR STABBING AND RACIAL ABUSE IN WINCHESTER
A man identified as Kieran Hutchinson, aged 31 and residing on Abbatt Close in Ludgershall, has been sentenced to nearly five years in prison following a violent incident that involved racial abuse and a stabbing attack. Hutchinson appeared before Winchester Crown Court on Friday, January 17th, where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of an article with a blade or point in a public place, and criminal damage. The events leading to his conviction took place on August 25th of the previous year. On that day, Hutchinson traveled to his former partner’s residence located in Taylor Crescent, Ludgershall, after a disagreement had escalated between them. The confrontation quickly turned violent and destructive. Hutchinson first caused damage by throwing a paving slab through the front door of the property, which resulted in damage to the wall and the door itself.
Following this act of vandalism, Hutchinson assaulted his ex-partner’s boyfriend, a man in his 40s, in a manner that was both aggressive and racially motivated. The assault prompted Hutchinson to enter the house, where he retrieved multiple knives. Armed with these weapons, he swung at the victim, inflicting injuries to his arm and hand that necessitated urgent medical attention at a hospital.
The severity of the incident prompted a police appeal for Hutchinson’s whereabouts, which was issued as a wanted individual. A few days after the attack, authorities successfully apprehended Hutchinson, who was then remanded into custody pending further legal proceedings.
During the court hearing, Hutchinson was sentenced to four years and ten months in prison. Additionally, he was subjected to an extended license period of four years, which means he will be under supervision for a significant time after his release. The case was handled with seriousness by law enforcement and the judiciary, emphasizing the importance of addressing knife crime and violence.
Detective Sergeant Toni Nugent of South CID commented on the case, stating, “Hutchinson went to his ex-partner’s property with the intention of causing serious harm to her partner. Following an initial altercation outside the house, he then went inside to find weapons to use against him. Hutchinson’s actions were completely unacceptable, and it is fortunate that the victim’s injuries were not significantly worse. We take all knife crime incredibly seriously and we will ensure that anybody who perpetrates a crime involving a weapon is arrested and put before the courts.”
