KIERAN DIXON OF LEIGH FREED AFTER CONSIDERED INCIDENT INVOLVING 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN LIVERPOOL
In August 2011, a teenage boy was found to have engaged in consensual sexual activity with a 12-year-old girl and was subsequently acquitted of more serious charges. Liverpool Crown Court heard that the girl wanted to have sex with Kieran Dixon, who was then 17, and that their interaction was consensual.Dixon, aged 18 and residing on Maple Crescent in Leigh, was convicted of sexual activity with the girl but was found not guilty of raping her. The court revealed that, on the night of the incident, both Dixon and the girl’s group of friends had been drinking. The girls went to Dixon's home, and later Dixon took the girl upstairs, where she spent the night with him.
The judge, John Phipps, sentenced Dixon to 12 months of supervised probation with a four-month electronic curfew from 9 pm to 7 am. Additionally, Dixon was ordered to register on the Sexual Offences Register for seven years, with a warning that breaching this order could result in imprisonment.
The incident was brought to attention when the girl, feeling unwell the following week, confided in a teacher about her worries that she might be pregnant.
