July 2019 Predator who encouraged boy to perform sexual acts jailed A 22-year-old man has been jailed for inciting an 11-year-old boy to perform sexual acts. Kieran Brosius, care of HMP, was sentenced at Taunton Crown Court today on more than a dozen counts of sexual offences. Brosius came to the police’s attention in October 2017 when it was discovered he had been sending indecent images of children via a Kik messenger account, the court heard. Rachel Drake, speaking on behalf of the Crown Prosecution, said Brosius’s home address was searched and it was discovered he had several devices, including a mobile phone, USB stick and Micro SD card with more than 1,000 indecent images of children and dozens of videos on them. Mrs Drake said Brosius was released under investigation and arrested again in January in this time when he was found to be uploading indecent images via Google. Around this time Brosius’s father came to the police after reportedly being contacted by a nine-year-old girl in Canada who said Kieran Brosius had asked her to send explicit images of herself. A further search was carried out at Brosius’s new address in Milborne Port near Sherborne where a laptop, mobile and iPhone were seized containing more indecent images. Separately Lancashire Police were contacted after a mother discovered her 11-year-old son had been encouraged to engage in sexual acts and send images by a stranger. Investigation showed the perpetrator to be Brosius, who told the boy he was 14, when he was really in his early 20’s and nearly double the boy’s age. Mrs Drake said the messages seen by the police showed Brosius bombarded the boy with messages over a three week period. “The messages show the clear sexual naivety of the boy and the way Brosius relentlessly attempts to corrupt him,” Mrs Drake said. “They make disturbing reading,” she added. When interviewed on these charges, Brosius admitted he had tried to contact ‘another five or six children’ for the same purposes without success. Defending Brosius, Harry Ahuja said the defendant had an ‘entrenched sexual interest in children’. Sentencing, Judge Timothy Rose sentenced Brosius to a total of six years in prison, with an extended license period of five years, and handed him an indefinite sexual harm prevention order.
