KEVIN YEARDLEY OF SHEFFIELD JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A Sheffield man has been sentenced to prison for his disturbing crimes against a child.Kevin Yeardley, aged 64, pleaded guilty to six charges, including engaging in sexual activity with a minor under 16, sexually assaulting a child under 13, and inducing a child to participate in sexual acts.
Investigating officers from South Yorkshire Police described his offences as "nothing short of horrific." The crimes were committed between 1999 and 2005, involving a single victim.
Following his guilty plea, Yeardley was sentenced to nine years in prison at Sheffield Crown Court on September 28.
He has also been added to the sex offenders register.
Temporary Detective Sergeant Susi Taylor commented, "This man's actions were nothing short of horrific.
He has rightly been given a substantial custodial sentence for his crimes.
The distress caused will likely have a lasting impact; those affected are receiving support from specialist services to help them cope with what has happened." She further emphasized, "It is crucial that any victim of child sexual abuse feels able to speak out and seek help.
I want to reassure the public that South Yorkshire Police is dedicated to investigating all reports.
