NOTTINGHAM MAN JAILED FOR KNIFE THREAT AND HARASSMENT
A man, Kevin Wright, 41, of Webb Street, Newstead Village, was jailed for two years for an offence against his former partner in Bulwell.According to Nottingham Crown Court, after their relationship ended, Wright carried out a campaign of harassment.
On December 31, 2024, he took a knife to her home, threatened her with it, and caused her to fall down the stairs.
There were children present at the time.
Wright then continued to threaten her by calling her approximately 150 times and sending threatening WhatsApp messages, including slitting her throat.
Recorder Sacha Ackland stated, “After the relationship ended you carried out a campaign of harassment.
On December 31, 2024, you took a knife to her home and threatened her with it and caused her to fall down the stairs.
There were children present.” The judge handed Wright a two-year prison sentence and a 10-year restraining order preventing him from contacting the victim or going to her street.
The court noted that Wright has previous convictions, including wounding and possession of a bladed article.
Wright pleaded guilty to threatening another person with a knife in a private place, harassment, and possession of cannabis.
The case was mitigated by Wright’s serious injury from a road accident that resulted in a brain injury, which her counsel said changed him and that he was remorseful.
Prosecutor Will Bennett said the relationship had broken down at the end of last year, and that police had been called multiple times regarding Wright’s refusal to leave his ex-partner’s home.
