KEVIN WOLTON SENTENCED IN SWINDON FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES AGAINST TEENAGER

In a significant case that highlights the importance of vigilance and bravery among young victims, police officers in Swindon have commended a 14-year-old girl for her remarkable courage in helping to bring a sex offender to justice. The incident, which took place in the Redhouse area of Swindon, involved Kevin Wolton, a 42-year-old man residing on Doulton Close, who was ultimately held accountable for his actions.

Wolton had previously denied allegations of sexually assaulting the teenage girl, but her willingness to cooperate with law enforcement and to serve as a witness played a crucial role in the case. Despite her traumatic experience, she was prepared to give a statement to the police and stand in court to testify against him. Her bravery was publicly acknowledged by authorities, emphasizing her determination to see justice served.

The case reached its conclusion at Swindon Crown Court on January 20th, when Wolton was sentenced to 29 months in prison. This sentencing followed a change in his plea, as he admitted to the charges and also confessed to breaching two conditions of his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). The court had previously imposed the SHPO to prevent him from having unsupervised contact with girls under the age of eighteen or with lone women, aiming to protect the community from potential harm.

The incident that led to Wolton’s arrest occurred on September 3rd of the previous year. According to reports, Wolton approached the young girl in Brook Park, located in the Redhouse area of Swindon. During this encounter, he made lewd and inappropriate comments towards her, and then physically grabbed her in an attempt to kiss her. The girl managed to escape and reported the incident to police officers on patrol nearby. Wolton was swiftly arrested on suspicion of sexual assault, and the case was taken seriously by law enforcement.

PC Dominic Tonge, a member of the Swindon North, East and Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team, spoke about the case, highlighting the victim’s bravery. He stated, “The victim showed great courage throughout this case and was determined that he should be punished for what he did to protect other girls in the future. Her calm resolution to continue to seek justice despite her young age was impressive.”

He also emphasized the importance of the court-imposed SHPOs, which are designed to safeguard the public from sexual harm by setting conditions that offenders must adhere to. PC Tonge assured the community that law enforcement agencies will continue to enforce these orders rigorously and take action against anyone who breaches them, ensuring that justice is served and public safety is maintained.
