FATHER JAILED FOR HEADBUTTING 77-YEAR-OLD MUM IN FACE
A HEARTLESS Cardenden man who headbutted his 77-year-old mum in the face has been jailed for 10 months.Unemployed Kevin William Nicol (44) previously admitted that on June 19 this year, at an address in Carden Castle Avenue, he assaulted his mother to her injury.
It was reported that the attack resulted from an argument over a kettle of water, and, that his mum was left bleeding and swollen.
It was also reported that she was taken to hospital with a suspected broken nose, and that Nicol told police “she had been asking for it for bloody years”.
Nicol returned to Dunfermline Sheriff Court last Wednesday for sentencing, and his solicitor Selina Mackay said there was little she could do to “gloss over” his attitude.
She continued, “He has a very difficult relationship with his mother.
There's been a lot of simmering tension under the surface for quite some time.” She added that Nicol was now living in a property owned by his mum, who had been sending his food parcels, and that his parents wanted him to return home.
However, Ms Mackay added, “He would not be willing to comply with any court orders.” Sheriff Craig McSherry criticised Nicol's attitude as outlined in the social work report.
Jailing Nicol for 10 months, Sheriff McSherry said, “You headbutted your mother on the face to her injury and you have indicated that you refuse to be subject to a community payback order.
I regard this offence as worthy of custody.”
