KEVIN SOFFE FROM CROWLAND AND SPALDING JAILED FOR INDECENT ASSAULTS ON TEENAGE GIRLS
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Crowland and Spalding, Kevin Soffe, a former army cadet leader, has been sentenced to prison for his heinous misconduct involving underage girls. The incident came to light after multiple allegations of indecent assault were made against Soffe, who was once regarded as a trusted figure within the local cadet force.Kevin Soffe, aged 44 and residing on Hudson Road in Spalding, faced a lengthy trial at Lincoln Crown Court. Throughout the proceedings, he maintained his innocence, denying allegations that he had fondled four teenage girls who were members of the army cadet force in Crowland, Lincolnshire. Despite his denials, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him of 11 counts of indecent assault.
The court's judgment resulted in Soffe being sentenced to three years in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender, a measure designed to monitor his activities post-release. Furthermore, he received a ban from working with children, aiming to prevent any future harm to minors.
During the trial, Soffe was acquitted of two other charges of indecent assault, and the jury was unable to reach a verdict on one additional charge, leaving that matter unresolved. The judge, Jonathan Teare, addressed the court and emphasized the gravity of Soffe’s misconduct. He acknowledged that Soffe was initially seen as a 'good and popular' instructor, but his actions represented a severe breach of trust and authority.
The victims, all teenage girls, were interviewed via video recordings after allegations surfaced. They described instances where Soffe had touched them inappropriately during cadet parades or when they were alone with him in his office. These testimonies played a crucial role in securing the conviction, highlighting the betrayal of trust by someone in a position of authority within the community.
The case has left a lasting impact on the local community, raising concerns about safeguarding and the importance of vigilance in youth organizations. The sentencing serves as a stark reminder of the need to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation by those they trust.
