KEVIN ROSCOE FROM CAERNARFON SENTENCED FOR HORRIFIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN NORTH WALES

In November 2016, Kevin Paul Roscoe, a man residing on Ceunant Street in Caernarfon, was convicted of heinous sexual offenses involving a young girl. The case revealed a disturbing pattern of grooming and abuse, with Roscoe promising the victim fame and fortune as a singer to lure her into his control.

Roscoe, aged 59 at the time, had manipulated the girl, convincing her to visit a recording studio under the pretense of pursuing her dreams. Once there, however, he subjected her to a brutal and repeated rape ordeal. Despite her desperate pleas for him to stop, Roscoe callously dismissed her, insulting her by calling her “f***ing stupid” and expressing frustration that her protests had spoiled what he claimed was a significant experience for him.

The severity of his actions was underscored during the trial at Mold Crown Court, where Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins delivered the verdict via a video link from Newport court. Roscoe was sentenced to ten years in prison, a punishment reflecting the gravity of his crimes. Throughout the proceedings, Roscoe maintained his innocence, shouting from the dock that “it didn’t happen,” despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

The court heard harrowing details of the abuse, including an incident where Roscoe forced the girl to perform sexual acts with her best friend while he watched, demonstrating his manipulative and controlling behavior. Judge Harris-Jenkins condemned Roscoe for abusing the girl’s trust and for his relentless pursuit of her leading up to the assault, emphasizing that he exploited his position of authority to do as he pleased.

Roscoe denied all charges, which left the victim deeply traumatized, with effects that persisted into her adulthood. The judge acknowledged that Roscoe had a wife who stood by him, and expressed concern about his vulnerability in prison. Despite this, the court considered testimonials from individuals who portrayed a different side of him, suggesting complexity in his character.

Additionally, the court imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order to protect others from potential future offenses. The pre-sentence report classified Roscoe as a high risk of causing serious harm, particularly to female children, highlighting the dangerous nature of his conduct and the importance of ongoing safeguarding measures.
