KEVIN ROSCOE AND HIS SHOCKING SEXUAL PREDATION IN CAERNARFON, GWYNEDD
A man identified as Kevin Roscoe has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after being found guilty of heinous sexual offenses committed in and around Caernarfon, Gwynedd. The 59-year-old was convicted in October on four counts of rape and two counts of indecent assault, all relating to incidents that occurred during the early 2000s.The sentencing took place at Mold Crown Court on Thursday, where Judge Philip Harris-Jenkins, appearing via videolink from Newport Crown Court, handed down the sentence. In addition to his prison term, Roscoe is required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the potential risk he poses to the community.
The court heard heartbreaking details of how Roscoe, described by investigators as a 'controlling sexual predator,' exploited the trust of a teenage girl. He reportedly lured her into his recording studio with the false promise of launching her singing career. Once in his control, the victim was subjected to repeated sexual assaults, with the judge emphasizing that Roscoe had 'callously used' his position of authority to manipulate and sexually assault his young victim.
Throughout the proceedings, Roscoe maintained his innocence, loudly denying the accusations from the dock with a shouted, 'It didn't happen.' Despite his protests, the evidence presented and the conviction clearly indicated his guilt.
The judge criticized Roscoe’s conduct, noting that he had placed the girl in a situation where she was unable to refuse his demands, effectively coercing her into unwanted sexual acts. The court highlighted the severe emotional scars left on the young victim, describing the case as one involving gross abuse of trust.
Concluding the sentencing, Detective Constable Chris Arkell of North Wales Police's Amethyst team, which specializes in investigating serious sexual offenses, expressed hope that the legal outcome may aid in the healing process for the victim. Arkell stated, 'Mr Roscoe has abused the trust that a young teenage girl placed in an adult, leaving lifelong emotional scars. I hope that this result today goes some way in healing this hurt.'
