December 2010 Jail let-off for postie who filmed naked boys at pool A PERVERT postal worker from Southborough who filmed naked young boys on his iPhone at Tonbridge Swimming Pool has narrowly escaped being sent to jail. Kevin Phillips, 33, of Broomhill Park Road, was given a 12-month prison sentence at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, but it was suspended for two years. The former Royal Mail worker also admitted possessing a hoard of indecent images – some of which involved children being tortured and raped The court heard Phillips was arrested after the incident at Tonbridge Swimming Pool on February 17 when he filmed under the cubicle of a nine-year-old boy, who had been swimming with his mother. A lifeguard was alerted but Phillips could not be found. When CCTV footage was checked he was identified and was seen to be a regular visitor to the centre. He was arrested three days later when he returned and, according to prosecutor Christopher Simpson, he told police: “I am not going to lie any more. “I have got videos on my phone. “I also have images on my computer and I know the boy spotted it because he looked straight at the phone. “But I was stupid and did it again.” Phillips also said he had recorded four or five similar films which were all for his own sexual gratification. Defending, Simon Wickens said his client had lived a “molly-coddled” life at home with his parents, with little or no friendships and “certainly no sexual relationships”. Phillips pleaded guilty to one offence of voyeurism and nine offences, involving 209 images, of possessing indecent images of children. The images he had in his possession included some of the most serious. Imposing the sentence Judge Jeremy Carey told Phillips, who was also banned from working with children and must sign the sex offenders’ register for ten years, he had decided the balance was “just tipped in favour of a rehabilitative course”. Phillips was also handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
