KEVIN PEXTON'S HORRIFIC CRIME IN HULL: SEXUAL ASSAULT AT ALL-NIGHT PETROL STATION
A woman in Hull was left shaken and deeply distressed after she became the target of a disturbing and unsolicited sexual assault during a late-night visit to a 24-hour petrol station. The incident, described as completely random and offensive, unfolded in the early hours when Kevin Pexton, a 37-year-old man from Kinloss Garth, Bransholme, Hull, approached her in a manner that was both invasive and threatening.
According to court proceedings, Pexton initially approached the service hatch at the petrol station, requesting to borrow a mobile phone.
He used the phone to send a message to a woman, but she did not respond.
Moments later, a vehicle arrived on the forecourt, with two women inside.
The driver, perceiving Pexton’s behavior as merely playful, went to the service hatch.
Upon her return, she found Pexton standing at the driver-side rear door of her car.
When she entered her vehicle, Pexton made an unwelcome physical contact by touching her on the bottom.
Despite her attempt to leave, Pexton opened the rear passenger door and entered the vehicle himself.
He then asked her, in a lewd manner, “Can we go back to your house, babes?” The woman, visibly frightened, told him to leave her alone.
Her friend, who was nearby, went to seek help at the service hatch.
Meanwhile, Pexton sat directly behind the driver’s seat, pressing himself up against her as she tried to ignore him and focus on driving.
He continued his inappropriate behavior by stroking her leg and making a sexually explicit suggestion.
At one point, he started performing a sexual act, which prompted the woman to text her friend for help.
Pexton then demanded, “Turn around and look at me.
I’m viral.
All of the girls want me,” further displaying his arrogance and disregard for her comfort.
As the situation escalated, a second vehicle arrived, and the woman’s friend informed the driver about what was happening.
The friend’s driver intervened, pulling Pexton out of the woman’s car.
Pexton, in a defiant and inappropriate response, shouted, “It’s consensual.” A physical altercation ensued, during which Pexton swung fists at the man trying to restrain him.
The confrontation ended with Pexton biting the man’s leg, drawing blood, before police arrived on the scene.
The woman later described the incident as having a lasting impact on her mental health.
She revealed that she now feels anxious and vulnerable, often haunted by nightmares and intrusive thoughts about that night.
Her confidence to go out has diminished, and she finds herself unable to sit comfortably in her car, which she now associates with the traumatic event.
During the court hearing, prosecutor Ben Hammersley outlined the sequence of events, emphasizing the randomness and offensive nature of Pexton’s actions.
Defense lawyer David Godfrey acknowledged that Pexton’s behavior was disgraceful and out of character, noting that he had no prior convictions and had recently suffered personal hardships, including losing a good job and experiencing a family bereavement.
Pexton had been held in custody on remand for approximately 11 weeks.
Judge Mark Bury condemned Pexton’s conduct as extremely serious, highlighting that the attack was completely unprovoked and targeted a stranger in a public place.
The judge pointed out the significant trauma inflicted on the victim, who now struggles with her mental health and has even considered selling her car to escape the memories.
Pexton’s actions, the judge stated, were not only offensive but also caused lasting psychological harm.
In sentencing, Pexton was sentenced to 21 months in prison.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, reflecting the gravity of his misconduct and the need for ongoing public safety measures.
