KEVIN O’RAW FROM BONNYBRIDGE CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES AND FAILS TO REPORT ADDRESS
In May 2022, a disturbing case emerged involving Kevin O’Raw, a resident of Bonnybridge, who was found to possess indecent images of children on his mobile phone. The incident came to light during a court appearance at Falkirk Sheriff Court, where O’Raw, aged 33, pleaded guilty to charges related to the creation, possession, and distribution of such illicit material.According to court records, the images had been stored on O’Raw’s phone for a relatively brief period—just a few days—raising questions about the immediacy of his actions. During the proceedings, it was revealed that O’Raw had been forthcoming with social workers, demonstrating a level of honesty about his conduct. It was also noted that he had a prior conviction for a serious sexual offence back in 2015, which added weight to the court’s considerations.
O’Raw, residing at 15 Patersion Place in Bonnybridge, appeared to understand the gravity of his situation, with the court indicating that he was “on the brink” of a custodial sentence. Sheriff Christopher Shead responded by imposing a supervised community payback order for a duration of three years. As part of this sentence, O’Raw was required to complete 225 hours of unpaid work within the following 12 months. Additionally, a restriction of liberty order was put in place, confining him to his home between 8pm and 5am for the next six months, aiming to monitor and limit his movements.
In a separate incident in November 2017, O’Raw faced further legal issues related to his obligations under the Sexual Offences Act. At that time, he was found to have failed to report a change of address to the police, a breach of his reporting duties. The court heard that between December 24, 2016, and April 6 of the following year, O’Raw had been residing at an additional address without informing authorities. This omission was particularly concerning given his previous conviction for distributing obscene material.
During the hearing, Sheriff Craig Caldwell addressed the matter, stating, “This was a misconception on your part in terms of your order and on this occasion I will admonish you.” The court’s decision reflected the seriousness with which such breaches are regarded, especially in cases involving convicted sex offenders. O’Raw’s actions in both instances underscore ongoing concerns about compliance and the potential risks posed by individuals with a history of sexual offences living within communities like Bonnybridge.
