KEVIN MARRIOTT SENTENCED IN LEICESTERSHIRE FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN DAVENTRY
A 62-year-old man named Kevin Marriott has been sentenced to prison for serious child sex offences that occurred in Daventry, a town in Northamptonshire.Marriott, who was previously residing in Coalville, Leicestershire, was convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl under the age of six at an address in Daventry several years ago.
The assault was committed in a private residence, and during the incident, Marriott instructed the young girl not to disclose what had happened to anyone, attempting to silence her and conceal his actions.
It was only in 2021 that the victim, now an adult, courageously came forward to police to report the abuse she endured as a child.
Her decision to speak out prompted a thorough investigation by law enforcement authorities.
Following this, Marriott was formally charged with two serious offences: one count of indecent assault on a girl under 16 and another count of assaulting a girl under 16 by penetration.
These charges reflected the gravity of his actions and the impact on the young victim.
Marriott denied the allegations, pleading not guilty to all charges.
His case proceeded to a three-day trial at Northampton Crown Court last November, where the jury deliberated and ultimately found him guilty on all counts by a unanimous verdict.
The court's decision marked a significant step in delivering justice for the victim and holding Marriott accountable for his crimes.
On January 15 of the following year, Marriott appeared once again before Northampton Crown Court for sentencing.
The judge sentenced him to a total of seven years in prison.
Of this sentence, six years will be served behind bars, with the remaining year on licence, meaning he will be subject to supervision and certain restrictions upon release.
Additionally, Marriott was ordered to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, a measure designed to protect the community and monitor his activities moving forward.
