WORCESTER PAEDOPHILE GETS LONGER JAIL TIME AFTER HISTORIC SEX ABUSE
A convicted paedophile who lured teenage boys with gifts before sexually abusing them over twenty years ago is set to serve a longer prison term.Kevin Humphries, from Worcester, perpetrated these 'reprehensible acts' after gaining the trust of his two victims.
Now 60 years old, he was in his early 30s when he provided the boys with 'adult'-oriented presents prior to abusing them during separate incidents.
Last year, Humphries received an 18-month sentence for his historic sexual offenses.
However, the Court of Appeal has now increased his sentence, finding it was too lenient.
Solicitor General Michael Tomlinson KC MP commented: 'Humphries enticed two teenage boys with adult-appropriate gifts before betraying their trust and committing his appalling assaults.' The emotional and psychological toll on his victims has been profound, and raising his sentence underscores the justice system's stance against such conduct.
Humphries was prosecuted following a report from one of his victims in 2020.
He pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent assault at Worcester Crown Court last October and received an 18-month prison sentence at Hereford Crown Court in November.
The case was subsequently escalated to the Court of Appeal through the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme, which reviews sentences deemed insufficient.
On February 15, Humphries’ punishment was increased by a year, bringing his total sentence to two years and six months, and he was also subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
