KEVIN DUFFETT FROM HEREFORD JAILED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES AND ONLINE INTRIGUE
In April 2019, Kevin Duffett, a resident of St Owen Street in Hereford, was sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of attempting to incite sexual activity with a minor. The conviction followed a series of disturbing online interactions that revealed Duffett's ongoing predatory behavior.
Duffett, who was already a convicted paedophile, was charged with two counts related to his attempts to engage with what he believed were underage girls.
During the court proceedings at Worcester Crown Court, it was disclosed that the 47-year-old man had actively contacted profiles he believed belonged to schoolgirls aged 10 and 12.
His intent was clear: to arrange meetings with these minors for sexual purposes.
However, the entire scheme was a trap set by paedophile hunting teams.
When Duffett arrived at the designated meeting point, he was confronted by members of the 'Incognito' team, who specialize in catching online predators.
They questioned him about his internet activity and subsequently contacted the police to intervene.
It was later revealed that the girls he believed he was communicating with did not exist; instead, they were adult members of another paedophile hunting group known as 'Angels of Innocence.' During the sentencing hearing, Judge Jim Tindal emphasized the seriousness of Duffett’s actions.
He not only sentenced him to seven years in prison but also ordered that Duffett be placed on the sex offenders' register for life.
Additionally, the judge imposed a ban on Duffett working with children, aiming to prevent any future harm.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and volunteer groups to combat online child exploitation and protect vulnerable minors from predators like Kevin Duffett, whose actions have now been curtailed through judicial intervention.
